PAWS stands for the Progressive Animal Welfare Society. PAWS is based in Lynnwood, Washington. PAWS is a popular name, but this PAWS is not part of other groups in the United States that have the same name. PAWS is a local, Independent Organization helping animals. The mission of PAWS is to “Advocate for animals through education, Legislation, and Direct care.”

PAWS is a non-profit organization, or Charity. This means that PAWS relies almost entirely on donations of money from people to pay for the food, medicines, electricity and everything else that is needed to take care of the animals.

PAWS has about fifty full-time employees. PAWS also depends on more than 1,000 volunteers who donate their time to help answer phones, clean animal cages, walk dogs, play with cats, feed baby birds and visit classrooms.
