Abuse
Hurting or harming
Adopting
Gettng a homeless animal from a shelter to live with your family
Advocate
To speak in favor of or to speak up to help someone
Animal Control
Animal cops, or people who help rescue abused animals
Animal Shelter
A place where homeless animals are cared for until the people that work at the shelter find them new homes
Animal Testing
Using products on animals to see if it hurts or is dangerous to them
Animal Welfare
When people work for the health and happiness of animals
Behavior
How an animal or person acts
Cattle
General name for domestic cows and bulls
Charity
Giving to help the needy or an organization that helps those in need
Community Relations
Working and talking with people in who live and work in the community
Companion animal
A domestic animal that lives in a home such as a dog or cat or a pet that is part of the family, such as a dog or cat
Conservation
Protecting or taking care of nature and wildlife
Cruelty
Causing pain or suffering
Declawing
To remove the claw and first finger bone from an animal's paws, usually cats
Department
One part of a large business or charity
Development
Turning a natural place into a place where people live OR people who work to raise money for a charity
Direct care
Providing food, water, attention and other care for the animals at PAWS
Disease
An illness
Dissection
Cutting up or taking apart a plant or animal to study its parts
Domesticated
A plant or animal that has adapted over many generations to living closely with people or for the benefit of people
Donation
Something given to a charity without getting an item in return
Employee
A person who works at a job for money
Euthanize
To 'put to sleep' or 'put down', to end an animal's life so it will not suffer
Factory farm
The common type of farm in the US, a farm that is run similar to a factory
