Gretel Hermanson is a Licensed Veterinary Technician & Animal Adoption Advisor who has worked at PAWS for about a year and a half. Her training and experience includes being a licensed vet technician, working with animals in the vet field for over six years.
Every day Gretel assists the PAWS Veterinarian with surgeries, x-rays, treatments and examinations. She medicates & monitors the health of the Shelter animals as well as explains veterinary examination findings and medications to potential adopters. Gretel also helps clean kennels and cages one day a week and counsel the Public about animals.
Gretel says that she loves working at PAWS because she loves helping animals and knows that she is making a difference in the health of the animals. The PAWS Shelter is a great place to work according to Gretel as she recognizes that many Shelters do not provide the same quality of care and medicine. She also enjoys working with all the kind and caring PAWS Staff and volunteers.
Gretel tells us about a happy experience working at PAWS, "I think one of my most rewarding experiences at PAWS was with a German shepherd dog named Wonkie who had a deformity in her leg. She was about 6 months old and otherwise healthy and happy. Her medical problem was totally fixable with surgery with a specialist but unfortunately was not something the PAWS vet clinic could do. So a very caring person fell in love with her and decided to adopt her and spend the large amount of money and care needed to fix her leg."
