Danielle

Being a kid didn’t stop Danielle from helping the wild animals at the PAWS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

What kid doesn't want birthday presents? None for this eleven year old please!! For Danielle's 11th Birthday all the presents went to the animals at PAWS. Danielle and her family organized a birthday party, but stated on the dog bone shaped invitation that instead of presents she would prefer gifts for the animals. She included the PAWS Wish List, with suggestions such as specific brands of animal food, kitty litter and gift vouchers for Home Depot. When Danielle, friends and family turned up at PAWS the next day with the gifts, Staff were shocked to see the pile of goodies filling the lobby! Food, toys, pet carriers, vouchers and all sorts of treats for the animals were decorated with toys and balloons. Staff quickly distributed some of the tasty treats to the dogs in the kennels, while Danielle and her family visited with the homeless animals, whose lives were made brighter while staying at PAWS by the thoughtful and selfless action Danielle took for her Birthday. Danielle, her family and friends have remained strong advocates by also participating in the Kids Who Care Volunteer Day. Her actions have also educated and inspired her friends and their families into considering the lives of homeless animals, as well as serving as an example to other kids who want to help animals.
