Mountlake Terrace Elementary

Students at Mountlake Terrace Elementary discovered that used Barbie clothes and Matchbox cars can help animals. Third grade teachers Dan Novak and Cathy Johannes came up with the idea of a fundraiser while their classes participated in PAWS’ Kids Who Care, a series of 6- one hour classroom workshops..

Students brought toys from home and set up a store in their classrooms. They sorted them into tables of 25, 50, 75 cents and one dollar. They wrote announcements, published an article for the school paper, and made posters to spread the word. They also made presentations to each classroom at the elementary to talk with students about the sale, which took place on two days during lunch and recess.

The PAWS Humane Educator attended an all-school assembly to receive their Donation, which totaled more than $225. These young citizens proved you can make a difference, no matter your age.

Thank you to Mrs. Johannes and Mr. Novak’s classes for participating in Kids Who Care and for all your hard work to make the fundraiser happen!
