On March 11 2006, Catherine recieved the first annual PAWS Youth Helping Animals Award at Wild Night, a party to raise money for PAWS. She was chosen for the award because of her outstanding service to animals in her community.
This 8th grader is involved with many school activities and helping care for her own dog Lucy. Even with her busy schedule she finds time to be a Reading with Rover Volunteer, helping elementary kids learn to read. Catherine's most amazing service to animals was starting the "Sun Puppies Dog Walk." This fundraiser helps raise money for animal rescue groups.

The award was created to honor a local young person, aged 18 or younger, for outstanding service for animals. Nominations are accepted between January and February each year. Nomination information is posted to the Wild Night page as the deadline approaches.
